Green & Bear This

Take the Green and Bear It hike to the top of Green Mountain this time of year AND you may be one of the lucky few to see a Bear & Cub along the path the hike is named for!

MWC recommends setting aside 3-4 hours for this adventure. The hike is STRENUOUS, starting at 8144 feet and gaining 2288 feet more to complete the path.

Green Mountain is the second highest peak in Boulder next to Bear Peak - GM's southern neighbor. This Short, Vigorous hike provides Wonderful Views of the back areas of Boulder County, travels over Small Streams & Rocky Terrain, AND is filled with the Sweet Smell of WILDFLOWERS & FRUIT TREES!

Merge left on Ranger Trail and stop at the historic Greenman Lodge for a visit. Keep hiking beneath the Douglas fir to the E.M. Greenman Trail junction. The Ranger Trail intersects the Green-Bear Trail and Green Mountain West Ridge Trail. Then head left toward Green Mountain Ridge Trail & stay on for another 300 yards.

Tips
Tip #1:
Sign the visitor log to let others know you made it to the top & use the peak finder to identify the surrounding mountai
Tip #2:
Watch out for Poison Ivy.
Tip #3:
Take a snack break atop the rock pile at the height of the GM Ridge Trail.
Address / Directions:

In Boulder, travel west on Baseline from Broadway. After about 1 mile, turn South on Kinnikinic Road and park at the trailhead. This can be a busy area so if parking is full, park on Baseline Road.
