Hooray For McKay Lake

Who says you can't get a little taste of nature close to home?  McKay Lake gives you the perfect getaway after a long day of tapping the keyboards and signing the docs.  This short 1.2 mile loop around the lake provides more than just water scene.  Nature calls from the hooting owls, slithering crossings from the resident bull snakes, buzzing fly-by's from local dragon flies and many others just might take your attention away from the surrounding views.

No Holds Barr Lake

Just northeast of Denver and northwest of DIA, Barr Lake is the focus of the eponymous state park and home to the Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory. Bird records for the park go back well over a century, making this historically the best-studied birding site in Colorado. In that time, Barr has added at least eighteen species to the state list. The lake is almost completely surrounded by mature cottonwoods, often several deep with considerable undergrowth, making this an excellent place to find migrant landbirds and riparian breeders.

Strawberry Park Forever

Flowing from the mountains of Steamboat Springs and nestled just minutes from downtown lies of one of Colorado's most hidden gems.  Strawberry Park is a favorite to locals and a "dipped strawberry" delight for visitors.  Just say AHHHHH as you soak in 104 degree water in one of the parks 2 main pools or get a cozy in the smaller and more intimate couples pools. Feeling a little "hot under the collar"?  Jumping into the cold river pool will certainly take the heat off.

Help the Colorado Trail Foundation

Colorful Colorado is FULL OF GREAT TRAILS to choose from!!!  But, the trails don’t maintain themselves.  The Colorado Trail alone covers 500 miles; it was built by, and has been continually maintained by, VOLUNTEERS!  MWC encourages all of our readers to spend 1 Weekend OR 1 Entire Week OR LONGER joining a crew to work with others preserving our trails.  Or, if you don’t have the time, consider donating to this wonderful cause.  Our trails give us unlimited enjoyment.  Let’s return the favor by helping
